Social Media – Still Waiting
One of the coolest things I get to do as an agency owner is to work with great businesses. I’m working with a company called Zoom Home Cleaning Experts, a residential/commercial cleaning company, and really helping them develop their digital marketing strategy. Part of that strategy, obviously, is social media and Martin, the owner, very fairly said, you know, I’m not an Instagram guy, I love Facebook, I’m just not Instagram.
Thinking laterally, I bet you there is somebody on your team who loves Instagram. So sure enough, there was and, she’s a former journalist in another country before she moved to Canada with her husband, who loves Instagram. So we just spent a few hours brainstorming what it’s like to own and run a cleaning company and the 2 dozen or so people that he has and working for him. We looked at how to tell that story from the inside out.
I just love to do this. I get to work with companies all over the worlds working on their marketing strategies.
Just this morning, I started off with a company in Europe helping interview for a new marketing manager. But this afternoon, I get to sit on a sofa with a cup of coffee and brainstorm a marketing strategy with this company in person.
It’s all about mindset. The sky is the limit. There is no ceiling to marketing now. We all have the same tools and platforms. The key is how to use them for maximum advantage. I get so much joy and energy from doing this.
We make stuff happen! You know, as a coach, as much as there is a marketing strategy and a website and all the algorithms that come into play, it’s all about the mindset of the owner.
- If they’re willing to learn,
- If they’re willing to embrace change,
- If they’re willing to go out of their comfort zone,
We know there’s no other company in his space that’s going to do what we’re going to do because we’re going to do things differently. And it’s that difference that makes a difference.
He’s got a better hiring culture, higher client retention and new clients seeking them out because of the kind of work that they do. All of this comes into marketing. So less turnover, more regular clients, higher margins because he’s spending less time training because people are staying. All these pieces come into the strategy. So he then becomes less stressed.
That’s the joy that I get: bringing all these trends together, showing them what’s possible, encouraging them, working alongside them in the DMs, and really building a strategy over a two—or three-month period of time, taking that business from good to great. That’s what I just love to do.
