Work, Wonder, Wander, Repeat: Balancing Business and Family in South East Asia

Hi, and welcome to my very first vlog on my personal-branded coaching and speaking site. Thanks for watching! I’m creating this vlog because, as I tell my clients all the time, the future of SEO is authentic content, so it’s time to practice what I preach!

So here I am. Something you may not know about meis that I love to travel. It just brings me energy to be around people in different places in the world. Currently, I’m in Southeast Asia in Phuket, Thailand, which, a strange fact, is an Island that I went to on my honeymoon with my wife Debbie in 1987. We rediscovered it a few years ago and just love it. So I’m here on Mothering Sunday, this week in North America. And we’re actually here with my mom.

Well, actually, my mother -in -law. I think of her as my mom. And she’s recently widowed. So little lonely, little tough life right now. So, my wife and I took her with us for a three-week vacation. So I’m on #workaction here in Thailand. That’s the beauty of an online business, right – Is that you can do that.

And once you get used to the time zones, wherever you are in the world, you can still do business. So that’s my thing – my work-life blend. A lot of people talk work-life balance, and I just find it’s either all work or all play or all family or all work. Trying to find that middle balance, it’s tough. But what I try to do is blend.

So I might work for three or four hours in the morning and take the afternoon off. I work early evening, get all my client calls, emails, and everything ready, and then jump into client calls, actually normally around 10:00 p.m. at night here in Thailand, which is 8:00 a.m. back in BC. So I can do that because I choose to and I want to, and I’ve made it a reality. And what I want to do with you is help you expand your horizons, help you realize that anything is possible. And when you know what that it is, you can do that. So really, a dream is just a dream, but a goal is a dream that’s written down and has a measurable timeline.

So, let’s set some goals together. Let’s dream big, write it down, and work together on how that might look. So I will say cheers to you from Thailand. Vlog number one is in the can. Over the next few posts, let’s just discover some stories that I can tell you about some of the people that I’ve helped and how it’s helped me, and we’ll go from there.

Sounds like a plan? This vlog series is called #StuffHappens!
